Raziel continues his pursuit of Kain through different periods of Nosgoth's history, gradually uncovering information about his own past and destiny, the corruption of the Pillars, and the history of the conflict between humans and vampires. Gameplay combines combat, exploration, environmental puzzles, and shifting between the Material and Spectral Realms. Raziel can acquire new abilities and enhancements for the Soul Reaver to access previously unreachable areas. The remaster adds updated graphics, camera and control options, navigation features, and the ability to switch to the original visuals.
